About the position

Kaj Bech A/S is looking for a skilled and quality-conscious Bid Manager to calculate and follow up on bids. In this role, you will work on complex projects within construction and civil engineering for business clients. There will also be projects related to bridge construction, and while experience in this area is an advantage, it is not a requirement. Overall, the projects will primarily focus on new construction, renovation, and production (but not residential construction) and will vary in scale.

As a Bid Manager, you will play a central role in managing the bidding process in close collaboration with both internal and external partners. You will gather relevant information and prices from project managers, department heads, estimators, subcontractors, and suppliers. With your sharp and critical eye for quality and risk, you will help ensure that projects are robust and well-delivered. You will also participate in site inspections to better understand the projects you will be estimating.

You will take over the role of Bid Manager from the current Bid Manager, Per, and the goal is to create an overlap between you and Per, who is retiring, to ensure a smooth handover and training process. You will also have your own office, providing you with a quiet space to focus on calculations and preparing bids before deadlines.

At Kaj Bech A/S, they practice the mentality of ”freedom with responsibility,” meaning you can expect to be met with trust and few limitations, encouraging you to take ownership and responsibility.

Responsibilities

As a Bid Manager, your primary responsibilities will be:

  • Measurement, calculation, and preparation of bids for specialized, main, and total contracts.
  • Reviewing tender materials prior to estimation.
  • Obtaining prices and offers from subcontractors and suppliers.
  • Collaborating with colleagues on execution methods and other aspects.
  • Preparing pre-qualification materials.
  • Incorporating risk assessments into bid submissions.
  • Communicating and coordinating with colleagues, including handing over bids to supervisors, construction, and project managers.
  • Participating in site inspections and contract meetings.
  • Integrating LCA (Life Cycle Assessment) data into the company’s estimation program.
